The historic images of “Snowflake” Bentley and modern digital technology come together in our Expression Series. From the easy, downward motion of “Gravity”, to the whimsical movements of “Exuberance”, these modern montages depict Bentley’s snowflakes in free flight. “Metamorphose”, imagines the glorious transformation of a snow crystal carried out by the impulses of wind and weather. Prints are reproduced using a new metallic photograph paper that gives a silvery cast to the snowflakes. Bentley glass plate negatives by the contact print process, the same process Bentley used to create his original snowflake photomicrographs. Each is limited to 200 prints. Prints are matted and framed to meet archival standards and are stamped with the official Jericho Historical Society " chop-mark" . Prints include a Bentley info card and Certificate of Authenticity. Prints are double matted using 100% acid free, museum quality cotton rag mat board. Available matted, or framed in two frame styles. Three Snowflakes from the Great Blizzard of 1888

Commissioned by the Jericho Historical Society and the Buffalo Museum of Science, Vermont Snowflakes is proud to release “Three Snowflakes from the Great Blizzard of 1888 as photographed by Wilson A. Bentley”. Our giclée print is reproduced from contact prints made from original Bentley glass plate negatives of snow crystals photographed on March 13, 1888. Also included is a pamphlet written by the Society’s archivist, Wayne Howe, which tells the story of the Great Blizzard that paralyzed the Northeast and in turn the entire country. Interesting facts about Bentley are included and his notations of the storm and the crystals depicted. Inspired by original Bentley framed pieces in the Society’s Collection, it comes in an American hardwood frame in mahogany with gold embossed beading that captures the period. Limited to 250 prints. Hand numbered and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Specifications:Medium: Giclée (zhee-clay) Print. Giclée is a process used by museums and galleries around the world to reproduce fine works of art. It has a life expectancy of 80-120 years under normal lighting conditions.

This collection is reproduced from original Wilson Bentley
glass lantern slides from the archives of the Jericho Historical Society.
A four color print process is used to capture the antique texture
of the original slide's emulsion. Prints are double matted using archival
quality mats (Natural White on Natural White) in our " gallery" format.
Matted prints fit a standard 8" X 10" frame or we can frame it in
our deluxe Vermont solid maple frame.
Each print includes a Bentley fact sheet and Certificate of Authenticity.

The " Snowflake" Bentley Collection
|

The Buffalo Museum of Science houses the world’s largest collection of original Wilson A. Bentley glass plate negatives. A partnership between the Museum and the Jericho Historical Society has been formed to preserve the Bentley collections of both organizations. This collaboration will allow for the archival printing of Bentley negatives and the issuing of prints to raise funds for future preservation of the
Museums’s fragile and important collection.
A new addition to our Lantern Slide Print Series. Bentley was amazed by the formation of frost on many objects around the farm. This is an example of one of his many frost on a window pane photographs. Available framed or matted.
Offset
reprints of the first series issued by the Jericho Historical Society
back in 1993 for which they won an award of merit from the Vermont
Historical Society. This collection shows the wide variety of snow
crystal formations, ranging from the delicate stellar crystal to the
unique triangular plate crystal. Printed in soft tones to capture
the warm feel and aged look of the originals. These prints are double
matted in contrasting gray tones and framed in an American made black wood frame with “faux” maple inlay. Framed prints include a Bentley fact sheet and a Certificate of Authenticity.
